We are a group of local families in the Illawarra who have watched some of the hardships and heard heartbreaking stories that our farmers throughout Australia are facing during times of drought, fire and natural disasters and have decided to help where we are able. We recognise the fact that our farming communities are the lifeblood of our country. When our farmers are struggling...our country struggles.
Fifty For A Farmer is not just about donations and fundraising. It will help form bonds and build friendships and trust within the community. It is also about kindness, generosity, empathy and giving freely of ones’ time to others.
Co-Founders: Kim Freeman & Justine Gilfillan

With approval and permission from the NSW Department of Education, Fifty For A Farmer have started a new initiative to connect schools from coastal and country areas. We're inviting schools to participate by allowing their students to dress as a farmer for a day and donate $1 (50c goes to your school, 50c for a country school). We also encourage students to 'get to know each other' by writing letters.
Thank you to Mt St Thomas Primary School & Binnaway Central School for your participation.
If you would like your school to be involved, please get in touch with us for more information.

All profits raised from sales go to Aussie farmers.
Fifty For A Farmer undertake "adventures" as part of our mission and goals. These adventures may include convoy like trips to farming towns laden with donated items and items purchased with Fifty For A Farmer donations, such as water - food - toiletries - money to be turned into vouchers to be used within the town - hay - clothing - animal food. We also visit country towns as a group to purchase morning tea, lunch, souvenirs etc using our own money in order to inject some out of area cash flow into each community. We may at times also join with other community groups to meet a greater need in larger towns. Each adventure will run under the banner of Fifty For A Farmer but will also have a catchphrase name to identify them separately.
A lot of research goes into Fifty For A Farmer adventure locations, we endeavor to find people such as Department of Primary Industries representatives, Country Women's Association members (CWA), members of the local Police force, Local Lands Council, Service NSW, local residents, etc who have knowledge of the community and local farmers, in order to identify those who may need the most assistance as we have found that most farmers are reluctant to seek and/or accept help. We have strict policies regarding the privacy and confidentiality of identified farmers and their families.
Covid-19 continues to restrict our movements and plans but we hope to be on the move again soon.
Do you have a destination suggestion?
Please let us know.
Fifty For A Farmer was born from the desire to help as much as we can without asking too much from any one person. We figure that 50c is not too much to ask to be donated. If you would like to donate more than 50c, we will accept it with the grace that it is offered but will never ask for more, with the hope that with group generosity comes something wonderful.
If you would like to become a member and join us on our adventures of like minded people doing good things, you will be most welcome. Many hands make light work as the saying goes. You will also be the first to know about upcoming events. Of course there is a membership fee. Yes that is correct - 50 cents.
If you are unable to join us, please consider making a donation. Thank you.
